NaBloPoMo Guide - Unofficial

Almost two weeks into NaBloPoMo, some people are still feeling lost and overwhelmed by the new site, and some have given up altogether. This saddens me. I've created an Unofficial Guide to NaBloPoMo, for old participants and new, to address some of the confusion. Please take a moment to swing by NaBloPoMo Guide - Unofficial and let me know what you think (preferably in this post.) Feedback of any kind is welcome.

NaBloPoMo Guide - Unofficial

Straightforward and in terms that even I can understand :). Thanks for taking the time to do that!

Yay! Thank you. - And you're welcome :)

Is there anything you think should be changed or different? - Now is the time for me to do it while the site is still totally obscure! Lol!

Your visit was more helpful than you may have realized. Based on your stats (yes I view stats!) I've made a change to the site. When you have a moment, see if you notice it.

Hey, I had a question but posted it under NaBlPoMo ( I HATE typing that) and FAQ. . which is probably the wrong place to ask my question. . .

Noisy Quiet said...

I answered you there :)

Your question confused the heck out of me! lol! Go see if I understood correctly.

And thanks for going by and reading.

Ok ignore my last comment. I'm changing the pages on the site a bit and there's a new FAQ page that won't have your question on it (same info, new page... don't ask!) So here was your question and my answer!

OK, got all that- thanks. What if I was late blogging on NaBloPoMo or Blogher or whever it is I'm posting because the site apparently wouldn't let me sign up to the Blogroll? I waited patiently, it never seemed to appear to signed up again, which then meant I was late.
BUT. . . I did post every day from the 1st on my blog. . .is it too late to somehow link those to NaBlo. . retrospectively?
Thanks,
Stella

Are you saying you signed up for the blogroll but your name isn't there? I see Blogging My Proclivities as #601.

What I'm saying is the first time i signed up on the blogroll my blog didn't appear. I waited 24hours like they said- it never appeared. So I signed up again- yes, it's there now BUT it means I didn't post on their site for the first couple of days.

So can I go back and use those posts and post there now? I want the badge this time if I post every day AND it's not my fault (see lower lip jutting out?) that their site doesn't record me as posting everyday coz I did on my blog. . .
Is that clear as mud now?

Oh ok.

First, you listed your blog's blogger address in the blogroll, so if you were randomly selected for a prize, *that's* the blog they'd check to see if you posted for 30 days.

Second: You don't have to post at BlogHer *ever* - Unless you want to. Posting at BlogHer has nothing to do with your posts "counting" towards NaBloPoMo, or even counting towards getting a prize. The blog you listed in the blogroll is the one they'll check. - Which in this case is your blogger blog. Which you've been posting in.

Third: Even if you don't put your blog on the blogroll, and they have no way of checking, if you post anywhere for 30 days, you've successfully completed the challenge and you can grab a badge at the end and put it on your site. They don't hand out the badges to specific blogs. They say "If you made it through, take one!"

Fourth: Again, posting on BlogHer has nothing to do with whether or not your posts "count." - UNLESS you listed your BlogHer profile page as your "blog" in the blog list. - Which you didn't. You put your blog, which is fine!

BUT, if you want to put your older posts on BlogHer, I say go ahead and do it. I haven't posted there, so I don't know how easy it is to back date them, but if you can, do. They encouraged other people to. They're far more lenient on the rules.

Fifth: :)
The only purpose of the blogroll is to list your name for fun and exposure. Being on the list or not being on the list doesn't determine whether or not you're doing NaBloPoMO. BUT if there's prizes being awarded (like this month) that's the list they'll randomly pick blogs from. If you want a prize, and you're not on the list (which you are!) then they can't find your blog. But if there's no prizes (or if you don't care about a prize - and I mean a tangible prize, not a badge), you can sign the list or not. Makes no difference. It's up to you.

Next question? :)

First- they'll go see my fabulous blog- check
Second- no need to blog at Blogher.. . but what if someone accidently read my blog.. .that'd be cool. . and I have intentions although still have gotten around to reading anyone else's blog. . . 15days in. . .
Third - Right grab my own badge. Gotcha.
Fourth -All is stil good, may go back and post post my earlier posts. . .
Fifth - Yep, feeling the fun and exposure already. And, dammit, I want a prize!
Thanks. BTW this is still not a list. . . .

Was second another question? Lol! If you're saying it'd be cool for someone to read a post of yours there (at BlogHer), you can cross post to BlogHer any time for more exposure -whether or not you're doing NaBloPoMo. So go ahead and post there any time you want. Or post snippets with a link back to your blog (just don't do the annoying one line snippet that some people do. Makes me crazy! "Guess what I did? READ MORE!" - No thanks! ;) )
